Most republican murals are found along Rossville Street. On 14 January 1972 (Bloody Sunday) around this street the violence of the troubles comes to its culmination. This was marked as the beginning of the so-called Troubles, the Civil War. „You are now entering Free Derry“ is an allusion to the Berlin Wall sign „You are now entering the Russian sector“.
